Many similar clearance tests are available here and elsewhere in internet. I could however not find one that goes tighter than 0.1 mm so modeled one up in Fusion 360.
I have been able to tune my printer (CREALITY CR-6 SE with Dragon hotend and Orbiter extruder posted on PrusaPrinters as well https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/126838-cr-6-direct-drive-dragon-hf-sf-and-orbiter-v15-mou) to the point where down to 0.12 mm is simply free, 0.10 mm needs a little push and 0.08 mm I can open with a tool using a little force. 0.06 I have not managed to open without breaking the tab.
I printed in ABS, probably in PLA I might achieve 0.06.
print at 0.2 mm layer height (adaptive layers might improve things, I have however not tested).
Slice with random seam position to simulate most situations where you cannot place the seam outside the tight area. Placing the seam on the sharpest corner increases the chance of success but might in practice not be helpful.
Slightly under extrude your outer layer (3~5%)
Increase retraction length by ~25% (I used 0.6 mm instead of the regular 0.4 mm) and use the highest possible retraction speed.
Tune Pressure advance/Linear Advance.
Run at higher than usual acceleration and square corner velocity (Jerk in Marlin). I used for the outer layer 50 mm/s 2000 mm/s2 and 10, inner layers at 100 mm/s 3000 mm/s2 and infill 150 mm/s and 4000 mm/s2. These speeds are obviously only possible when running Klipper with properly tuned input shaper.
It was found that PrusaSlicer and SuperSlicer do not slice the 0.06 mm clearance knob correctly. Most of the knob is simply blended with the ring around it.
PrusaSlicer and SuperSlicer use a parameter "slice gap closing radius" setting under print settings; Advanced; Slicing. This one is set to 0.049 mm by default and causes PS and SS to ignore the gap between the knob and the ring. Reduce this setting to 0.02 or lower to get the model rendered correctly (It seems the .3MF file renders better than the .STL).
For the .3MF file PS and SS will mention that a multi-part object is detected. That is correct, you can answer no or yes, they yield the same result.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
