Heyhoo

Here I have a new Container for you :) Perfect to store away some dry stuff like Coffee or other things!

In addition to the obvious, that the container is as well sealed as possible, I also took great care to ensure that it is very easy to print and can be reproduced by anyone in a functional and visually appealing way.

There are 3 Designs available:

1: Double Threads
With this version I implemented two threads which are offset by 180° to each other. This means that the seal is distributed much more evenly across the thread than with just one thread. To align the threads properly I recommend to first turn the lid anti clockwise until you feel the threads align. Then turn the lid clockwise to close it.

2: Fast Thread

This design is visually very similar to the double-threaded version, but has only one thread. This creates less friction when putting the lid on and taking it off, resulting in a slightly faster and smoother movement.

The seal is sufficient for most cases, but is significantly stronger on one side than the opposite side.

3: No Sealing

This Version is for you if you don't need a tight sealing with a flexible seal. It is based on the Fast Thread design.

TPU Sealing

I tested different TPU materials as sealing. Some 95A TPU (Blue sealing in some pictures) worked fine and seemed like a sweat spot in terms of stiffness and sealing force. I went down to 70A TPU (Black sealing in the pictures) which also worked fine but sometimes it squeezed out of form due to the high pressure. Especially with the Fast Thread Design.

Alternatively you can use a standard O- Ring for an even better sealing. (Thickness (CS) 2,5 mm Outer Diameter (OD) 62 mm and Inner Diameter (ID) 57 mm. Slight deviations from this size are of course still acceptable.

Accessories: Inserts

I added different Inserts to store things more organized.

3 x Insert, 4 x Insert and both of them in half size to create 6 x and 8 x individual storage container.

Printing Instructions:

I used PLA for my prototypes (Prusament Galaxy Black & Marble Grey), 0,2 mm layer height, standard settings. PETG works fine too und would be my go to material for future Container :)

I printed the part with Arachne and Classic Perimter Generator. They should come out nice and clean :)

For the TPU Sealing it is highly recommended to dry your Material before printing! Slow down the printing speeds for a good result. I also set the retraction to 0.

If you want to print several Sealings in one go I highly recommend you to use sequential printing.

Scalability:

Since all parts are 3D printed you can easily scale the project!

The smallest Container I tested was at 50% Size. I would not go lower than that to ensure there are 2 walls at all places. Also the Sealing was very flimsy and could fail a lot more easily.

Lubrication:

If your tolerances are off a little or you use quite rough materials you can smooth the motion of the lid by using a little bit of candles wax (paraffin)!

Remixing Culture:

I added the step files of the single & double threaded container inclusive an already modified lid for you If you want to create a custom insert or sth like that.

Please do not upload unedited parts ,-)

Have lots of fun!

:)
