This power injector was designed for use on the Soundcraft Ui24R sound mixer. It has a notoriously low power output for its USB port. This module allows you to -indirectly- plug in a thumb drive or external SSD without drawing any power from the mixer itself. Instead, power is drawn from a phone charger through the USB C port.
MATERIALS
USB A socket (female)
USB C socket (female)
USB A plug (male)
6mm LED with resistor (I used one made for 12v, but it works fine at 5v)
15cm of USB cable
5-10 cm of 2 core wire.
INSTRUCTIONS
Print the housing with supports enabled.
Connect the positive and negative poles of the USB C port to their respective pins on the female USB A port. Also connect the LED to the USB C port.
As for the USB cable, solder ONLY the data wires and ground wire to the female USB A port.
Fit this contraption through the hole for the USB A socket and route the USB cable through its hole.
The USB C socket and the LED should be friction fits. The USB port will require a dab of glue.
Now solder the USB A plug onto the cable. Do not do this any earlier, as you wouldn't be able to fit it through the hole.
Push the bottom plate in place.
Attach it to your mixer with either double sided or magnetic tape.
Tip: if you make your own USB C cable, then you could also print this 90° connector.
