inspired by a video from maker's muse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LU77kPf25Yg&ab_channel=Maker%27sMuse
all credit goes to him for giving me this idea.
I have designed a large box using the idea from his video as a design exercise.
the biggest file “box” is very large and printed on a creality CR-X pro, everything else on a prusa i3 MK3s
- lay out all 6 “locking pins” into their corresponding grooves in the “bottom guide plate”
- lay the “top cam plate” on top of all 6 locking pins, make sure the little pin on top of each locking pin goes in to one of the curved grooves on the top cam plate
- insert the “central bolt” throught the central bottom hole of the bottom guide plate. The two fins on the bolt should fit into the two recesses provided in the cam plate, they make sure that the cam plate rotates and forces the lock pins inward or outward.
- put the “decorative top” piece on top of the two plates, the central bolt should stick out the top
- screw the diamond shaped handle onto the central bolt.
- turn the handle counter clockwise to pull all the pins inward and unlock the lid, then put it into the box. The locking pins should line up with their respective holes in the box and the decorative top should rest on the top surface of the box.
Note: the central bolt and the handle are the hardest pieces to print because of the thread, it may take several attempts for two pieces to thread into each other, at least it did for me.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
