The model is a system of stackable boxes designed to hold and organize lock picks and tensioners. Magnets are used to retain the contents and to hold together the boxes and lids.

The size of the boxes was determined by my requirement to offer space for 5 MOKI picks (they are quite long). Different box versions accommodate different types of picks. I am open to create more box insides for other types of picks, but I do not own them for testing.

Currently offered layouts:

  • 7 Multipick picks (plus some additional storage)
  • 5 Moki picks
  • 3 Moki AKAB picks (plus storage, as there are only 3 of them)
  • 6 Multipick Dimple Picks (I guess 7 would fit, but I like to store all left flags in one tray and all right flags in another)
  • 1 Sparrows Disc Detainer Pick (plus storage for accessories)
  • A set of 20 holders for tensioners
  • A grid of magnets for example for dimple lock tensioners and stuff
  • Empty with different inside heights

Lids are designed in a way that boxes can also be stacked on top of them. Some have the Lock Pickers United (LPU) logo and text embossed and look good when printed with switching color for the upper layers.

Everything was designed in OpenSCAD using a ton of parameters, I will upload the code when I am happy with it.

4x4mm cylinder magnets are used for the stacking magnets (8 per box, 4 per lid)

4x2mm cylinder magnets are used for the inner magnets (number varies between box versions)

Current problems:

The picks still rattle a bit so it is not really quiet.

The stacking magnets of a box on top sometimes pick up the multipick picks below when splitting the boxes.

The magnets need to be glued in. A press fit did not work reliably for me. Superglue worked best for me.
