Hello!

This is a simple playground roundabout or spinning wheel for the Playmobil kids, the design is inspired by the one displayed at the picture of the set 4015. Check my other creations for the playground in this collection.

It is easy to print and assemble, and spins much better than expected, take a look at the video:

My daughter loves it and she is very proud that I made it, I think I'll have to design some more playground items for her.

Please, let me know any question or problem you may have and I'll try to reply you ASAP. Also let me know if you like it ;)

Have fun!

Printing instructions

I used the print setting “0.20mm SPEED” from PrusaSlice 2.4 as reference with the following changes (the .3mf files attached already include the modifications).

  • Common to all of them:
    • No supports needed.
    • Layer height: 0.20mm
  • Base part:
    • Infill: 10% is enough.
  • Platform part:
    • Infill: 10% is enough.
    • You can play with layer height for the top layers of the platform to improve that rounded ending of the piece.
  • Bars part:
    • Place the piece with the legs pointing upwards so the ring sits on the bed.
    • Perimeters: increase enough to fill the legs without infill for more strength, I used 5.
    • Infill: it doesn't apply if you use enough perimeters.
    • Detect thin walls: ON.
    • Use of raft is encouraged for better first layers on the ring.
Postprocessing and assembly

The top of the bars has octagonal shape section and fits perfect on the hands of the Playmobil kids, no need to do anything to them. Anyway I tried sanding it a little to get a more rounded look, check the picture. It's up to you, but I would not do it again.

The only assembly needed is to put the legs of the bars inside the platform's holes, the holes have some clearance to enable the insertion, but depending on your printer accuracy they could be too loose or tight, in first case just sand them a little and in the second case add a drop of glue, I put some glue even being quite tight just in case.

After that, just put the platform over the base and make it spin!
