I made this part because I struggled to find a Pi camera mount that was small and dealt with the ribbon cable routing problem in a clean way. With this mount, the camera has a good view of the printer, and keeps the ribbon cable away from anything that might damage it. You will likely have to remove the back panel to install this part and route the ribbon cable. Check out my Trident rear center skirt remix to route the ribbon cable into the electronics compartment.

Hardware required:

  • 2x M2x10 self tapping screws
  • 1x M3x6 BHCS/SHCS
  • 1x M3 T-Nut or Hammerhead-Nut

Enjoy! Please leave a comment/make if you end up using this part! Send me a message if you have any questions.

NOTE: I have tested this only on my printer (Trident 300) and confirmed that a Pi Camera Module 3 Wide has a good view of 99% of the build plate. Additionally, my print head (Stealthburner w/ Galileo 2 & umbilical) does not contact the camera, but it does come close at (X-center, Y-minimum). I cannot guarantee that this will work for your setup, but if you need a small change, please send me a message and I may be able to help you out.

Edit 2025.01.25: Increased the spacing between the Pi Cam edge and countersink edge in the part because I couldn't fine-adjust the roll of the camera. With more space, it should be possible to loosen one of the screws, adjust, and re-tighten.

Edit 2025.02.17: Added a ‘more-solider’ version that supports the Pi camera from both sides, and mounts to the 2020 extrusion in two places. I'm using this version now, but in hindsight, it really doesn't add anything that the standard version doesn't do.
