A physical version of the “good fast cheap” Venn diagram
This is a redesigned mechanism for K2 Tech Designs' Good Fast Cheap slider. This addition uses a whippletree/rocker bogie mechanism to let you toggle any two switches, but not all three. Make sure to use the support painting fill tool on the circular underside of the large pivot.
All of the files here are original, and are simply compatible with K2 Tech Designs' model, so you will need to download their model along with my files (print an extra one of the slider2.STEP files). I did this because I noticed that they do not allow remixes…
This ended up being quite the design challenge. I expected the whippletree to work with just a linear slot, but it turned out that I needed to figure out each of the positions of the large pivot, where a pin can be placed to get the biggest difference in positions, and what shape will only interfere with the pivot in the Fast, Good and Cheap position.
The author remixed this model.
This remix uses a whippletree/rocker bogie mechanism to let you toggle any two switches, but not all three. K2 Tech Designs' mechanism just uses a single lever that doesn't let you have Fast and Good but not Cheap, Cheap but not Fast or Good, or none at all.
