A mix between Chess and Stratego.
Mixing the mechanics of chess with the surprise of stratego.
Rules:
1. The game requires both parties to be fair and honest.
2. All pieces move according to chess rules.
3. At the start place your pieces on the first two lanes in any way you wish.
4. If at any point your King is captured you lose.
5. Pawns may only double step on their starting tile (regardless of wether it's the first or second row).
6. En passant is only allowed if you are certain both pieces are pawns.
7. Castling is only allowed if both king and rook are on the same lane and haven't moved this game.
Bluffing rules: (special game mode)
1. You can move any piece as if it's another piece.
2. Any time your opponent makes a move you can call their “bluff”, the opponent will have to show their piece.
If their move was illegal the move is undone and they lose the piece that made the move + any other piece of your choise.
If their move was legal you lose 1 piece to the choise of your opponent.
Printing Tips:
I've personally printed the pieces as 4cm tall and 2,66..cm wide which fits a board with squares of 4-4.5cm nicely, however I suggest scaling to a size that fit's your chess board dimensions nicely.
I've printed the pieces with the standard '0.12mm High Quality' setting with a .4mm nozzle.
The details are okay, but if you make the pieces smaller I suggest using a .2mm nozzle although .4mm can still handle smaller sizes aswell.
Assembly:
Pretty simple, print both a front and back piece and glue them together with Super Glue. Only need a little bit.
Personally I've used Super Glue from Pattex. The glue does need some texture to attach too, I've used the textured plate of the P1S which gives enough texture for the glue that sanding won't be necesary. If however you use a smooth plate I suggest sanding the pieces before applying glue.
Disclaimer and sources:
The idea of making Chess Stratego is not originaly mine. The models however are my design and the rules are slightly modified.
At the moment I cannot find a link to the original version that inspired me to 3D print my own.
The models for the chess pieces and box are my original design, the chess piece icons on the pieces are however modifications of the standard lichess pieces. The original SVG files can be found here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:SVG_chess_pieces
If you like my design, please leave a comment/make. I would love to see people enjoy it :D
