NEW VERSION! Here's what's changed:

  • Shorter overall length puts the knob closer to the shroud so it doesn't get in the way.
  • Now uses M3x25mm socket head cap screw
  • Counterbore uses a print-in-midair technique to avoid needing support
  • Front bevel reduced so more area touches the build plate, making it easier to print.

The Bear extruder (v1) makes it quite easy to get at the nozzle. Only one screw — that of the fan shroud — needs to be removed. The problem is, it's a bit tricky to get that one screw out. Even when fully disengaged from its thread, it “keys” the fan vertically into its position until the screw is removed fully, and it's hard to get your fingertips in there.

This knob solves that problem. Simply print this part, screw an M3x25mm socket head cap screw in from the knob side, and you've got an easy way to twirl the screw and remove it.

It's best to print this part knob side down, with a brim. I printed with a 0.25mm nozzle to highlight the detail of such a small piece.

Enjoy!
