My PC flight stick stopped centring and after much faffing about with the sensors I concluded I couldn't fix it economically.
I've ordered a replacement stick, but in the meantime, wanted to play MSFS 2024 and Falcon BMS in VR.
This is my solution, an extended Xbox controller stick (since I had an Xbox series S/X controller knocking around in the living room).
It works well giving lots of extra fine precision to the controller without adding instability or weight or completely messing up the centring.
I'm probably not going to be using it as a long term replacement for the PC but it may allow me to play more games on the Xbox due to the improved accuracy.
It also has a ‘dimple’ to the top to allow improved tactile feel in VR. The same as the originals feature a dimple on their sticks so it should feel familiar in the hand.
If you put the extension stick on the left hand stick, you can use the right hand stick for viewing and the buttons are easy enough to press with your little finger, so not letting go of the stick.
Note I still have an F16 Throttle and T16000 rudder peddles separate so not sure how putting those binds on the controller as well holds up. but technically if you were playing MSFS 2020/ 2024 this may be all you need to make the planes fly right.
The author remixed this model.
I think I used this file as a base for the controller, but I found the internal diameter of the adapter was too large so I narrowed the opening by a MM, in addition to the extra length I added.
