This is a modification of my Portable Pi 80 (https://www.printables.com/model/993043-portable-pi-80) for using an Radxa Zero 2 Pro. The Radxa is a more powerful SBC than the Pi Zero therefore much more useful.

NEW: New SBC Holder for other Zero sized SBCs now available.

Only the Top Part is modified and now includes a addition of a case for the Radxa because of size constraints.

In addition I added ventilation holes in the bottom Cover because the charging board gets hot and you cannot see the green light of the status led if you use a more redish color for you Material. Part should be printed with Tree Support.

Changed Parts:

BTW: You may change the "PortableRDX_V05-TOPRadxa Cover" part to incorporate other zero sized SBC with USB-C an Micro HDMI. Freecad files are attached, have fun!

Currently the SBC is hold by a double sided tape.

All other parts are the same.

Do use the Radxa with the Screen (Whaveshare 7″ Touch Display Kit For Raspberry Pi Zero) you have to use some adapter to change from micro usb to usb-c and from mini hdmi to micro hdmi. I have soldered the connector myself.

HDMI Conversion:

I used some FPV Cables:

This for the male mirco hdmi cable.

And this for the female mini hdmi cable.

You may also find a Mini HDMI Female to Micro HDMI male FPV Cable.

For converting micro usb to usb-c:

For the firs step I used this for converting micro usb to usb-c.

You will then need a usb-c male to usb-c female connector.

You may find some flat cable connector for this, but i decided to solder this mysef:

USB-C Male

Notice that A6 and A7 are d+ and d-.

USB-C Female:

For the Power connector you only need VBUS + Ground.

For USB Hub Connector you will need

  • VBUS
  • GROUND
  • D+
  • D-

Result looks something like this:

Parts:

This are the Parts that you need in addition to the “Portable PI 80” Project. Without Pi Zero for obvious reasons. I also removed the external SD-Card option.

You will  need the Radxa Zero 2 Pro board with Cooling Fan.

I have ordered it from RADXA direct:

 https://radxa.com/products/zeros/zero2pro/

I have no experience with flashing the onboard EMMC because i use a SD Card only.

As OS is use ARMBIAN (Desktop images):

https://www.armbian.com/radxa-zero2/

Works out of the box, that was nice.
