First off, great idea! Please don't take this the wrong way. If you want to continue iteratiing on this idea you may find my input helpful. If you're done with it and you're happy the way it is, stop reading now.

It needs some improvement to be helpful enough to use. Remember what we have is the convenience of a breadboard, and you want to IMPROVE on that. I think you can...but this isn't quite it.

I did give it a chance and printed it out (with the modular base), but it has some frustrating quirks that will cause my hand to skip over it when reaching for a breadboard.
