About the Pillar of Shame
Pillar of Shame (Chinese: 國殤之柱) in Hong Kong is a concrete sculpture by Danish artist Jens Galschiøt. The statue depicts 50 torn and twisted bodies to symbolise those who died in 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre.

On the base of the statue, the history and pictures of the massacre are carved in and engraved into the base. In both English and Chinese, are the words "The Tiananmen Massacre", "June 4th 1989" and "The old cannot kill the young forever."

The Censorship
For Hongkongers, the statue is a symbol of freedom, universal values and democracy. In Oct 2021 the University of Hong Kong(HKU), represented by law firm Mayer Brown, requested that the statute be removed. The university's action is aiding HK Gov. and CCP to impose censorship in HK and further erode Hongkongers rights and liberties.

They Can’t Silence Us All
To combat censorship, Lady Liberty HK recorded the statue using photogrammetry, thus preserving the original statue digitally with this open-source 3D model.

To those who believe in freedom and democracy: you can help by putting up your own Pillar of Shame and spread the word. In the struggle against the largest dictatorship in human history, every contribution counts.
