This is amazing model was made by rndmframes_printing and the licensing allows sharing with attribution so I wanted to make sure the prusaprinters.org visitors didn't miss out on it by re-uploading! Original link here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4887921
I have not modified the design in any way, just uploading to share it for more people to enjoy.
I printed all of the fan blades and injectors in resin using an MSLA printer and all of the other pieces out of PLA using 0.15 layer height for the more intricate pieces and 0.15 layer height for the less visible pieces. Everything is definitely a tight fit as noted by the original modeler.
This is a Turbofan jet engine that I designed, similar to the engines made by Rolls-Royce. The idea behind this project was to create a jet engine that has the main components of a real jet engine inside as well as creating a jet engine that runs with compressed air (even if the housing is open). Besides the printed parts there are two 608 bearings required.
For the assembly there is a little sanding and gluing required. To run the engine with compressed air a 4mm pneumatic tube is needed wich is glued in the injector.
Partlist
2x 608 bearings
1x 4mm pneumatic tube
2x housing1
2x housing2
1x housing3
1x housing4
2x injectorring
2x stator
4x injector1
3x injector2
3x injector3 (goes with injector2)
1x injector4
1x injector5 (goes with injector4 for the 4mm tube)
1x shaft
1x fan
1x shaftEnd
1x compressor1
1x compressor2
1x compressor3
1x mainTurbine
1x 2ndTurbine
1x stand
The tolerances used are tight so drilling and sanding may be required in some places.
