This is a work in progress project: far from finished at this point.
I was tired of my CR10 control box falling over when a spool was loaded. Many mornings I would walk in to find the control box tipped over and the spool all bound up. So I decided to re-invent the control box and move the center of gravity of the spool to be lower and centered between the display panel (front tower) and the power supply (rear tower), while the control board is below both and provides a front side access for the Mini-USB and the MicroSD slots (front bottom right).
This is reusing all the parts/wires from the existing control box and also tries to improve the airflow for the fans to reduce the heat build up inside the control box.
I plan on test printing this in the next couple weeks and will post the project revisions as they become apparent.
This is designed to be printed on a standard CR10 print bed.
1/20/2019 - Added an optional display tower model for a Raspberry Pi to be mounted inside. Ethernet/USB connections on one side, MicroSD slot on the other. Still a work in progress.
1/23/2019 - I am going to add in an HDMI (panel mount) port into the side of the "Display Cover w/ RPi Cutouts" so that the Pi can be accessed when needed, without having to remove the cover. This should be modeled into the STL soon.
I also plan to start 3d printing the model by weeks end to do test fitting of components.
