This model is intended to be used in conjunction with a cyclonic dust collector (such as the the Harbor Freight Bauer cyclone, or Oneida Dust Deputy), for use in a woodworking shop.  The primary dust collectors will normally be installed on top of a 5-gallon bucket, and sit inline between the dust source (table saw, router table, sander, etc) and a shop vac, with the purpose of separating out most of the dust before it hits the shop vac filter (extending the filter life).

However some dust still gets through.  This piece should add an additional layer of dust collection, extending the shop vac filter life even further.

To print, first slice with a modern slicer program (such as PrusaSlicer).  You can use a coarse layer height profile (such as .28 mm), but also enable the variable layer height setting.  Set the Quality/Speed selector to 1.0 (favor speed over quality), and hit the Adaptive button to automatically change to a finer layer height on any threaded components.

There is an additional model file, “single-cyclone-test.stl", which is intended to validate tolerances – print this one, along with one “pipe.stl”, and both upper and lower nuts, and test all the fittings.  If any are too tight, look at the script in the readme.txt file and adjust the “tolerance” variable to a lower number, or a higher number if the fittings are too tight, and re-generate the STLs.

All model files should already be oriented in the proper print orientation.

Depending on how the print comes out, you may need to brush on a thinned-out polyurethane, and use a thread sealer on the screw-together parts.  Make sure that if you seal the threads, that you use a sealer that can keep the bottom dust bucket removable.

Note, that this model is estimated to take about 30 hours total to print all the pieces, and will use about ¼ to ⅓ of a 1KG PLA spool.
