Someone put me on to the idea of a fishing rod tensioner for the filament holder on the SV08, so this is what I came up with. It's two bearing that press against the filament using the power of a rubber band wrapped around a bolt.
Print the hugger and pause (layer 58 for me using 0.2) and toss a few bearings in there and resume. The giraffe mount I printed flat with some tree supports, 0.3 separation top and bottom. Used petg since it supposed to be hard to print with and ruin families, used 220 and I found it fine (rated 220 to 230 on the spool).
I had a 5/16" bolt and nuts lying around, so used those to position the hugger on the giraffe, could be longer bolts, but the filament sensor is on that side as well, so might not matter.
I find it makes for a more gradual curve and pulling the filament is harder than pushing the noodle back, so it's like a valve, seems to move less at any rate.
