Various Gridfinity models to hold utensils.

  1. A specialized bin for utensil pairs, such as table/tea spoons or salad/dinner forks. I found that my tablespoons in particular had trouble fitting into 1u wide Gridfinity bins, so this design steals a little from one utensil to give to the other.
  2. A 2x6 bin with a matching notch for longer utensils, such as dinner knives.
  3. A couple variations on knife blocks that I am playing around with. Be aware that these eat filament. The large block used almost 700g of filament @15% infill. I am working on other designs to greatly reduce this. Fortunately most people only need one.
  4. Several standard bins in the same dimensions as the specialized bins. Everything else about the system is standard Gridfinity. It is built on standard Gridfinity baseplate (I recently switched to CLICKbase personally, it works very well), so there is nothing preventing you from mixing in other Gridfinity bins to suit your needs.

Notes:

  • Bins are 9u, or 63mm high. This is the maximum height for everything in the system, but some models are shorter.
  • Slightly thicker than usual 2mm walls; sacrifices a little filament for a sturdier print
  • Use whatever filament you like but remember that some filaments will not handle the dishwasher as well as others. Try printing a test bin and running it through the dishwasher on the top rack. In my experience all PLA and even some PETG will not survive. Either wash by hand or be test before you put all your work in the dishwasher.
  • I am not adding lips for stackability, they are not needed for this project
