The box measures about 165 x 140 x 100 mm (L x W x H, without hinges) and has a modular design.

Inside, there is a large insert that provides storage for needles, threads, and various small items. The compartments are arranged on a grid, inspired by Gridfinity, and can be removed, rearranged or replaced. The entire insert can be taken out to access the bottom compartment underneath, which is designed for "bulky" items (height: 30 mm). Additionally, there are two flat compartments into the lid, each of it is sealed with a magnetic lid. The main lid of the box is held horizontally when opened to prevent it from accidentally catching on soft surfaces when moving the box, which could cause it to tip over or break the hinges.

All STLs are designed to print without supports.

The hinges are designed to put a piece of filament in (1,75 mm). PLA works for these filament pieces but be careful to don't break it while pushing it in.

Magnets: 6x2 mm

Maximum size of thread spool: 20 mm x 62 mm

Printing Recommendation

  • PLA
  • 0.4 mm noozle
  • 0.2 mm layer height
  • 2 walls
  • 15% infill (I used cross hatch, but all other infill should work too)

I've raised the bed temperature from 65 to 70 °C to avoid warping. The clearances for the large insert is 0.4 mm to the wall of the box, so warping could lead to make it stuck. There is still the bottom compartment so don't worry but try to avoid warping ofc.
