This might be a reach but wondering if you knew how to allow for the small caps variant of a font in this OPENSCAD customizer? I figure out how to choose a different font and all, but would love to be able to use the small caps version of the font. (which doesn't seem to be a separate font itself, but a variant rather of the font). I'm not a technical type computer-wise, but would welcome your thoughts or advice for the layman? I came across this reference...

https://books.google.com/books?id=Gc0fAAAAIAAJ&pg=SA3-PA9#v=onepage&q&f=false

...for the fonts used in the 1950s-60s era NASA technical manuals and thought using FUTURA but in SMALL CAPS would be awesome for some labels.

Thanks in advance and thanks for the model even as it is!

you should be able to use whatever font you would like. If I remember right you can just download and install fonts on windows and OPENSCAD should be able to use that as a locally installed font. The default fonts on openscad are kind of meh. but you can search google fonts for something that might work.

heres more infor about fonts accodring to openscad documentation
https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/OpenSCAD_User_Manual/Text
"In addition to the installed fonts ( for windows only fonts installed as admin for all users ), it's possible to add project specific font files. Supported font file formats are TrueType Fonts (*.ttf) and OpenType Fonts (*.otf)."

The futura font sounds awesome I found this maybe give it a download? might not be exact.

@AutoCode3D_1560544 hey thanks for the quick and thorough reply! So I figured out that at least in my computer (Mac) whatever fonts i have in MSWord can be used in the font style field your opened file. I also figured out how I can add any of the Google fonts you mentioned and those also work (once installed they also appear as options in MS Word) If I type the name of the font it shows up: Times New Roman, Helvetica etc. and FUTURA is already installed there. (I thought I had to type It in the code section in the left in the “editor”(?) but doesn’t seem to matter what I type there, only what I enter in the field in the parameters section. So I can totally get FUTURA on my labels….

What I was wondering is for example how you make a bold version of a given font or italics version, or in my case, a SMALL CAPS version of a font.

I don’t really know how to add the code portion or where. I thought i saw something about “font_variant” somewhere but even if I found how to specify a version (italics, bold, small caps etc) of a font, I’m not sure where I’d add that in the editor (?). Does that make sense?

Some fonts are italicized themselves and some are bold already but if I wanted “Times New Roman Bold” I can’t just type that in the dint style files you designated ; at least it doesn’t seem to work.

I’ll keep digging around; thanks for your help!

Doh! Just clicked your link and saw font_style…that might be what I need if small caps is listed as a font style. Sorry I didn’t click first! (edited)

do it works only for upper X bearing or also for the lower one ?
my X axis lower bearing is hard pressed inside :-(

@AutoCode3D_1560544 so it can be removed ! great info, you are the first one who succeeded. do the lower X bearing has only the two screws (on heads) or there are others ? ( like upper X bearing has additional 2 screws on the side with spring ) Thanks a lot for the answer

Turned out great! Printed using PETG. Made taking the bearings out and putting them back in a breeze!
