This coupler anchors very securely to the chassis of the K1 Max, allowing a strong, low-leakage connection to a 4" exhaust hose.

Printing the Coupler

  • PLA works well
  • Orient as shown in attached slicer screenshot
  • Enable supports / On build plate only
  • Use 100% infill density. This strengthens the retaining clips. It does not add much printing time (the model has a relatively low volume).

Applying Gasket Tape to Coupler (for Best Seal)

  • Apply to back of the coupler, around edges as shown in photos
  • Use closed-cell adhesive foam tape, 1" wide x 1.5mm thick (example from Amazon)
  • Trim to approximate length needed with scissor, then trim off overhangs
  • Does not need to be perfect

Securing the Coupler to the Chassis

  1. Remove the 4" square charcoal filter which is inset into the rear of the chassis behind the built-in exhaust fan (you don't need the filter, since you are exhausting the fumes). This will expose the 2 flanges (tabs) on the chassis which retain the filter.
  2. Insert the coupler into the hole left by the removal of the filter. Pressing the coupler forcefully in towards the chassis, simultaneously slide the coupler down a few inches, so that the retaining clips on the back of the coupler slide fully over the 2 flanges on the chassis. When the coupler is fully seated, the partial hexagonal cutout on the bottom of the coupler will fit snugly into the hexagon pattern on the back of the chassis.

Using An External Blower

You will get much greater exhaust flow using a strong external blower inline with your exhaust hose.
