And we've stepped it up a notch today, folks. The VM-1 phone stand awaits—if you download the file below, slice it, and send it to your printer. Okay, okay, I get it. Why would you want to print a vase mode phone stand, when a single layer wall clearly isn't going to be enough to hold your phone? Well, let's just change that to say that it is enough to hold up your phone, especially using the correct print settings. After multiple iterations, I have finally come up with what I believe to be a sturdy vase mode phone stand, that doesn't block your view of the screen, and looks good to boot. Oh, and it's definitely a quick print even at slower speeds. At 200mm/s, I'm getting just shy of 30 minutes.
Now, being that it's a vase mode phone stand…
Minimum printing requirements for a strong stand (Please be sure to check these!):
Note: Larger nozzles can lead to stronger prints in vase mode. Therefore, if you have a 0.6mm or larger nozzle, don't think you can't print this. A general rule is that you can set your line thickness to be 150% of your nozzle size. A 0.40mm nozzle can print well up to 0.60mm line thickness. A 0.6mm nozzle can print up to 0.9mm line thickness. And on and on. At some point it will be diminishing returns, but if you already have a larger nozzle on there, increase your line thickness and go for it!
