Description

This is a 120mm fan cover, mostly common in computers. Like the million others out there, it protects the fans from foreign objects and your fingers from its blades. This design tho, also allows to swap grille colors and designs without unscrewing it plus when covering two or more fans together (as in computer radiators), it sprawls an overlapping design to make it seem like a seamless unit.

Features:

  • Modular design
Mix n match colors, add modules for multi-fan configurations
  • Easy grille insert swap
No longer need to unscrew the grille and very likely, the fan, to change the design, the grille insert can be pulled out to allow to snap-in a new one
  • Less screws for 2+ fan
There is no need to do all four screws for each fan in a multiple configuration, end fans use three and middle ones use two, diagonally opposite
  • Seamless design for 2+ fans
It appears to be one large single frame instead of individual ones (you can still use multiple single frames if you'd like that instead)
  • Large center opening
Shows your fan's sticker/logo if you're into that kind of stuff
  • Will it make a taco?
No, it won't make a taco but if scaled up and printed in metal, you'd have an interesting grill for your steak and do some mean carne asada tacos

Here's what you need for each configuration:

  • Single (120):
    • 1x 120FRAME
    • 1x 120GRILLE
  • Double (240):
    • 2x 240FRAME
    • 2x 240GRILLE
  • Triple (360):
    • 2x 240FRAME
    • 2x 240GRILLE
    • 1x 360FRAME
    • 1x 360GRILLE
  • More than 3: print for the Triple (360) and add per each additional fan:
    • 1x 360FRAME
    • 1x 360GRILLE

I created FanSwap as a way to mod my PC, what I wanted was not available and what I liked was way too expensive (CNC machined aluminum covers, anyone?), also the pain of changing the cover in a tight case, specially on radiators where the fan also comes off the same screws. Also, why did double and triple radiators never looked like a single cohesive unit?

I'm very particular about things and spent quite some time designing, printing, fitting, redesigning, adding/removing features, adjusting tolerances, wall thicknesses, etc. and I didn't think I could make a reasonable profit out of this so here it is, free and public for you, hopefully my effort goes further than just fulfilling my needs, I do appreciate feedback greatly, thank you for reading this far!

REMIX UPDATE: Added grille blanks in .STEP format, one fully solid so you can cut your own design and one hex pattern only so you can extrude your design on. These six designs are inside the FanSwap REMIX STEP grille files.zip file
