This mod holds the Quest 3/3S controller secure at the end of a cut down club. Adjustable weight improves swing realism.
What you need:
Donor club with stepped shaft 12.5mm (1/2") at the cut end. A tapered shaft will work but will require more effort to secure.
Tools to cut and drill the club shaft
glue
2" bolt 1/4 20 thread
2" cap screw partial thread 1/4 20
1/4 20 nyloc nuts X 2
1/4 20 regular nuts X 2
Metric:
M6 x 50 bolt
M6 x 50 cap screw
M6 nyloc nuts X 2
M6 regular nuts X 2
a stack of large washers
Print .4 nozzle @.28 layer height . 40 walls. No top/bottom layers , infill, or supports.
Use a filament and temps that will produce a strong part. I've had great success with Esun PLA+ [aka PLA pro]. There is a reason why it's widely used by gun people.
mirror the mount and quick release in the slicer for a left handed version
Assembly:
The hole through the shaft needs to be accurate. Drill out the threads on 2 regular nuts and glue them into the drill guide.
Glue the cap onto the mount. 2 part epoxy is a good choice.
Bolt the assembly together [draw the rest of the owl…]
A tapered shaft will need to be shimmed or glued
Remove the battery cover and slide the controller into the mount.
Secure the quick release and you are good to go
All of the infrared tracking lights are in view. Don't believe the 90 degree hype…
Golf+: “custom” setup. Use a wedge and get the shaft aligned. Rest the club on one hand and sight down to check weight balance [see image]. To adjust, put the club on the ground and roll it while holding the "grip" trigger.
WARNING: use this far away from TVs, windows, ceiling fans, pets, people…
Experimental trigger:
1" bolt 1/4 20 thread or M6x25 / 1 nyloc nut / strong fishing line
-The clamp will need to be shimmed, use tape or print one
-The trigger needs to spin freely on the bushing. Clean up Z-seams
