Designed for the Lifetime Tamarack Angler 100. Model: 90818 but will work with many Lifetime kayaks.

Many Lifetime kayaks have two swivels to prevent the rear of the fold-up seat from reclining backward too far. This is a terrible, but cheap design that has two problems:

This is a slightly beefed up replacement part for the swivel.

Differences from original:

  • The rear bar is slightly thicker to compensate for the weaker printed part. This has an unintended benefit of securing the clip much better than the original.
  • The spacing between the rear bar and the main body is smaller for strength.
  • The sides are thicker for strength.
  • The part between the mounting holes is very slightly narrower to prevent the part from falling out during transport.

This part has been tested for two years using standard PLA in fresh water and incidental sunlight under a carport. It has been kicked several times to remove it from the kayak without breaking.

Test part:

  • PLA
  • Resolution: .2mm
  • Walls: 9999
  • Infill: 100
  • Orientation: Bottom down
  • Supports: Yes, touching build plate. Only the rear bar needs support.
  • Bed adhesion: Skirt

If anyone prints this using PETG, please leave a comment below. The test part was printed with wet PLA because it was already loaded in the printer with the intention of the final part being printed in PETG. The 100% wall PLA part has held up so well that there was never a need to reprint it.

Replacement:

Line the old part with the side of the kayak and push it forward until the mount moves into the large hole, then lift the swivel off. Reverse to install the replacement.

This was my third part created via FreeCAD so it has a lot of potential improvements to save on filament and streamline the FreeCAD model.
