…Please be sure to hit like & post a make, I'd love to see your prints!
The Vortex series grows with Gemini! Print faster with crisper cleaner looking prints!
These lightweight mirrored modular pods each carry a powerful 24v 6020 fan that when used as a twinned pair provide effective build space wide cooling for your 220x220 machine!
These units will produce a thin curtain of cooling air that is designed to cool the very top layer of your print even when your nozzle has moved off from that area taking it's print head mounted cooling system with it! This means you no longer have to worry about areas warping before they're cooled enough for the nozzle to move away from them!
However… These are not just limited to small printers! The Gemini is effective enough to be used on large machines as well! The beauty of this modular system means you can keep adding more units to cover the extended build area if you wish!! Line 'em up!
Be sure to adjust the desired height of the units for best results!!
The Gemini has been designed primarily for the new Sovol SV07 printer but they can be used with almost any machine that's gantry to bed distance is in the effective adjustment range.
You have 10mm of adjustment & the effective range of adjustment from centre of the V-Slot on the rear of the X gantry to the bed when the nozzle is at first layer height should ideally be between 40-50mm for the Gemini!
PRINTING…
Print fan mounting face down at 0.2mm layer height, at 0.3mm you will get overhang warnings from your slicer. Only support the ends of the gantry mounting bar, no need to support the centre or anywhere else.
Print in your choice of material depending on your printing habits. Normal PETG or better, but PLA+ “should” be ok if you only ever print low temp filaments.
INSTALL…
You'll need:
4x M3 Heat Inserts
4x M3 25mm Cap head bolts for the fan mount
2x M4 T nuts
2x 8-10mm M4 Cap head bolts
Add the heat inserts to the 4 fan mount holes, then attach the fans using the M3 25mm bolts.
Then mount the fans to the rear of the X gantry using the T nuts in the gantry V slot. As you look at the front of the printer the units will be marked to say left & right side! Try not to get these reversed. It's your left & right looking at the printer.
Be sure to select the desired level that does not let the Gemini units collide with the bed when homing or when the nozzle is at first layer height. Also give it a little clearance so it won't hit any raised areas of a failed print for example. You must also make sure the lower carriage bolts do not collide with the tips of the ducts under the gantry! Test slowly by hand after install for adequate clearance. You may need to reverse the carriage bolt if it hits anything.
Setting this height correctly & checking carriage clearance is DOWN TO YOU!
The make the desired connections to the main board for power, you can splice into the main cooling plug but ideally you should add these units to another pin or even attach them to a second hotend connection (E1) & reassign the pin in your firmware to control additional fans or tie it with the main fan pin. Consult your respective firmware guides for this information.
Klipper Multi Pin Fan option is a good choice here.
