if you made this in fusion 360, is it possible you could share the file ? i want to make modifications but cant convert the stl from a mesh body to a solid body on the free version. if anyone knows a better way of going about this id appreciate any tips!

@omartantawy_2566972 The author posted a STEP file below the STLs, you can open it with Fusion.

@waufg_1439451 thank you so much !!! i didnt realize thats what those files were, youre a life saver.

Nice model!
Added some Magnets to avoid slipping but as that increased the height I have to replace the needles

What length should the needles be? There are lots of options.

Printed out of PLA and used either #4 or #6 machine screws. The bores were the perfect size for the screws to self tap and not need any thread locker to stay put. I'd recommend using a rubber band over the TPU gasket since the TPU doesn't have great grip on my portafilter. Looks and works incredibly well!

Hi, will it fit lelit portafilter (57mm?)

I made the holes for the needles smaller, then heated the needle and pressed it in

Printed 0.12mm layer height, detail turned out very nicely.
12 needles sleeves and 2 fixed carriers are required. You also need a method to tap the bolt holes as they're too small for M3 bolts as they print. Perhaps a mod to the model could add a flared opening, where bolts could then become self tapping as they're tightened?
Other than this, a thoroughly enjoyable print.

Does anyone have an assembly video? I printed everything and got the needles and screws, just stuck on assembling it

Are there any tips on how to print the needle sleeves? Everything went fine but its rough to print the sleeves. Printing with PETG 0.2

@tjark_khl_886619 what I did was open up the gear files in prusaslicer and added instances of the needle sleeves. I scaled the sleeves up slightly for the needles to fit better and prevent a bad print on the sleeves, since the hole kept closing during printing. Just slapped the instances over the holes for the needle sleves and ignored the g-path crossing warning and it worked perfectly! (edited)

Very nice design, really like your work, but after using for a while I noticed that the needles are not moving to the edges of the basket. I would suggest to make a gear part little wider so needles are going all the way to the edge. Do not get me wrong the design is awesome, but it distributes grounds in the middle of the puck and leave like 2-3mm at the edges untoched. After taping portafilter you can clearly see that there is way more coffee grounds on the outer edge of the coffee puck because it force them from the middle and won't work them in again.

Thank you for your work

Very easy to use, just a few modifications and you're good to go.
However, the PLA gears are not smooth enough to rotate, so a tab is added to the middle section to hold the handle ears.
Since I have a lot of basket, the needle is fixed with silicone sleeve so that the length of the needle can be changed at any time afterwards
