…Please at least be sure to hit like & post a make, I'd love to see your prints!

Endstop Filament Runout Sensor - uses a simple Creality style endstop switch as a runout sensor. Made for the Sovol Sv06 printer but compatible with any machine with active HIGH runout firmware.

You'll need:

1x Creality endstop as the photos

2x M3 brass heat inserts (Short)

2x M3 8mm Cap Head bolts

For V slot mounting:

2x M5 8mm (or 10mm) Cap Head bolts

2x M5 T nuts

For SV06 Mounting:

2x M5 12mm Cap Head bolts

Connection:

1x 3 pin JST-XH to 3 pin JST-XH cable

You will need to have a length of 3 core wire for the switch wiring, the pins are on the switch's PCB board & must be matched with the pins on your board, all 3 wires must be connected.

Printing:

See last photo for correct orientations.

Print the Bracket on its largest flat side.

Print the Mount standing upright on its longest flat edge with supports added on the underside of the filament bell. Use a brim to help stabilise the Mount.

Print the Mount at 0.2mm layer height.

Print the Bracket at 0.2-0.4mm layer height.

Assembly:

Use a sharp knife to cut the layers smooth where the switch end will pass under the filament bell (see photo) …& watch your fingers!!!

Slightly bend the very tip of the switch to make sure it doesn't dig in when filament is removed from the sensor (see photo). mini needle nose pliers are best for this, coming in from the side.

Add heat inserts to the blanked back holes in the bracket (see photo).

Assemble the switch, Mount & Bracket, securing them with the M3 8mm bolts.

Test the unit by passing some filament through both entry & exit apertures, the filament should (& MUST) pass easily back & forth, if it does not adjust your slicer settings & try again.

If the switch seems too far forward & too tight up against the filament, or the filament gets hung up on entry on the endstop unit, then use the alternate Mount file:

"Endstop Runout Sensor Mount +0.3mm.stl"

This increases the gap by +0.3mm

Be sure to use the correct firmware for your new sensor & test that it works properly.

I've added a flat bodied mount for use with regular micro switches or your own board, use the recessed mounts for the Creality endstop switches.
