The included STLs are 125mm in diameter (edge-to-edge), a material thickness (not overall thickness) of 3mm, and have a plain backside and feature around ~50 more or less popular logos of software, programming languages and hardware one might use in their homelab. Some of them with additional variant-logos. For myself I used 4 neodymium magnets per panel from “supermagnete.de” (this ones: https://www.supermagnete.de/selbstklebende-magnete-neodym/scheibenmagnet-selbstklebend-10mm-1mm_S-10-01-STIC ) with 10mm diameter and 1mm thickness, which provide a very secure, but not too strong holding force, but the adhesive backing may not be sufficient, so I added a dab of hotglue.
You can use the STLs as is, but this modular openscad-file is designed to be modified to your needs. Download openscad, open the file and adjust as needed. The logos are inside the SRC-zip-file, and the SRC-Folder needs to be in the same location as the scad-file.
You can easily alter height, thickness, rim, the count of edges (but hexagons look best), recesses for magnets or adhesive backing, and so on. if the magnet-count is 1, the cutout will be in the center, otherwise they will be arranged more of less equaly spaced out on the backside.
With this dimensions, one hex-tile uses about 45-50 grams of filament, which means, that you can get around ~20 of them out of a spool. If your ironing-settings are dialed in (mine are not), you should make use of it.
You can also add own logos. Most likely you'll have to scale the logo, but the scaling factor as well as the path to the logo is given as parameter, the scad-file is pretty self-explanatory if you have ever seen an scad file before. Importing own logos work best with DXF or SVG-Files, they just need to be scaled accordingly in openscad. I found “icon-icons.com” a good ressource so far for all kinds of SVG-Logos.
My personal favourite is the homeassistant logo, which just looks awesome. You can also use them as coasters.
