This project has been on my list for a while and this contest motivated me to get it done. This is a solar filter for a Celestron NexStar 8SE for viewing and taking pictures of the sun. The glass can be picked up through Amazon for $10 at the link below. Just set up the gcode to pause for the glass to be inserted at the proper time. The overall size to fit the telescope is too big and must be assembled with two out rings. The inner piece fits into a groove in the outer pieces. Once assembled and glued the filter will insert into the telescope frame exactly the same to the lense cover.
I did these in black PETG with a textured surface.
These particular pictures were taken with a Samsung S21 cell phone. The pictures themselves could be better, but it was really hot outside. It'll be better in the winter or during an eclipse.
