I need to connect my keyboard both to my personal and work computers and I didn't find any simple USB switches online (purchased one on Amazon that always wires the 5V lines of both PC, reinjecting power in USB ports !) so I made one with a rotary switch; no electronics parts, 100% reliable.

For this small project you will need :

  • 2x USB Type-B female connectors
  • one USB Type-A female connector
  • a rotary switch (4 circuits, 3 positions)
  • a knob
  • 2x 1206 CMS LED (optional)
  • one 370ohm resistor (optional)
  • 4x M2 screws
  • a piece of prototyping board (43*20mm)
  • some wires

I didn't made schematics.

Use box.stl if you want to include two status LEDs, box-no-led.stl otherwise.
