It has a simple design which preserves the top and edges of your desk, as it mounts to the underside! The 'Desk Mounted Headphone Holder' was designed to cater for a wide range of headphones with head bands up to 6cm (2.3 inches) in width. It is designed to print easily without supports, and requires minimal (if any) cleanup on the screw holes.

It sits flush against the edge of the desk creating a clean and unobtrusive look. It can easily be sanded and then painted to match the colour of your desk.

Edit: I added a version to fit a 16mm thick desk top, as requested by another user.

Happy printing!

Print instructions

Category: Audio How to mount:

The 'Desk Mounted Headphone Holder' uses screws between 3 and 3.5mm in diameter. The screw holes are exactly 3.5mm in diameter, so feel free to use screws which you feel are appropriate.

I simply held the print in place, and used a pointed tool to indent the underside of the desk as a guide for my drill. I did very shallow pilot holes as the screws are somewhat self tapping.

The head of the screws will sit beneath the surface of the print, as the holes have a 7mm counter-bore.

DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN! The print will snap along the layer lines if you do (speaking from experience)

From the bottom of the mounting arm to the top of the holder is about 27mm. The bottom of the mounting arm is what will be resting on the underside of the desk, and so this model will not be too appropriate for desks thinner than 27mm. The desk shown in the photos is the 'Linnmon' table top from Ikea which comes in at a width of 34mm.

Printing:

Supports: Not needed

Layer Height: 0.15 (as seen in the pictures, can be printed at 0.2) - larger layers may make the print weaker around the screw holes.

Print Orientation: Print this model as default, which should be with the front on the print bed.

Material: PLA or ABS (I used PLA for mine)
