El Microprocesador Z80 fue lanzado al mercado en 1976 por Zilog y ha sido uno de los microprocesadores de mayor \u00e9xito, debido a su uso en los Amstrad CPC y Sinclair ZX Spectrum. A\u00fan se utilizan derivados suyos en sistemas empotrados.

El Zilog Z80 fue dise\u00f1ado por Federico Faggin, que habia sido el dise\u00f1ador jefe del Intel 8080, pero cuando su producci\u00f3n finaliz\u00f3, este dej\u00f3 Intel y fund\u00f3 Zilog para desarrollar un procesador compatible con el software creado para el Intel, lo que ayudo a su popularidad.
Su nombre se debe a que pod\u00eda ejecutar 80 instrucciones m\u00e1s que el Intel 8080, dando lugar a un total de 156 instrucciones.
