Handheld Grenade, Dyakonov, model 1933

I liked Hanoch's make of this iconic Soviet hand grenade in 1:1 scale, but I wanted to give it a shot to try and change a few things to make it slightly more accurate while not being that much more complicated to print.

  • The head was completely redesigned, though still retaining the thread for compatibility. It now also includes a hole to insert a provided fuse... no good reason why, just wanted to include it as it was part of the arming procedure. Included an alternative without it as it does add some print time.
  • The handle was slightly enlongated and with some added detail. Also merged the safety slide into the object for more durability and less assembly.
  • On the sleeve I only touched on the lock. While it is more accurate, that part is now also a bit more brittle. Thickened the parts slightly to compensate for this.

This is still compatible with the original version, so mixing and matching is very much possible.

Printing:

A small support structure to aid the slide button and the sleeve latch housing is good, though not strictly necessary. I used a variable layer height to keep detail while not greatly increasing print time.

The tips of the fuse latch and the sleeve latch need some slight heat bending as a finishing touch, like with a lighter or just water from a kettle. A small nail or similar is needed for the moveable fuse latch
