PRUSA Research Rocket

Edit - 19.09.2022: IMPORTANT - After realising that there were some issues with the mechanism's functionality. I have uploaded files with a “Rev.” (with subsequent revision number) in the file name. If you have downloaded the files before 18.09.2022, please ensure to replace the respective parts with their updated versions.

In the spirit of posting models to PRUSA's Printables page, I have created a PRUSA Research edition of the original rocket ride: https://www.printables.com/model/274490-rocket-ride-functional-with-build-instructions

The model features individual parts with the intent to be printed with with the PRUSA colours (no MMU required, just print and assemble). Parts do not need support material to print, and the orientation of all the parts are already in the orientation in which they are intended to be printed.

The turning of a hand crank at the back of the model transfers motion allows the rocket to rock back and forth, similar to the coin operated rides that featured heavily in the 80's and 90's.

To put the model together use the same build instructions provided for the Rocket Ride:  https://www.printables.com/model/274490-retro-rocket-ride-functional-with-build-instructio/files (it will be at the bottom of the page).

Printing Tips:

Material: PLA, PETG, ABS, or any material that you would be comfortable to print with. Nothing specific required.

Supports: No supports required.

Layer height: 0.2mm will be fine for 95% of the parts, for smaller parts I recommend a layer height of 0.1mm and slowing down the printing speed for optimal detail.

Infill: 20%-25% recommended.

Colours: As shown on the images of the model. But any colour can be used if you are feeling creative.

Please note some of the parts of the model may cause a choking hazard, so these 3D printed toys are not recommend for children under the age of 6.

Happy printing and thanks for all that the PRUSA Team has added to the 3D printing community; may your and their work soar as high as a Rocket flying amongst the stars.
